The Conscious Convergence will take place at the Salamander
Camp Retreat Center nestled amidst the secluded natural beauty
and serenity of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The retreat center is
surrounded by miles of hiking trails through wild, pristine forests
and meadows of vast silence and mystical grandeur.
The retreat center is easily accessible from several large urban
areas and airports. It is approximately 20 minutes from San Jose
and 20 minutes from the beach town of Santa Cruz, one hour from
San Francisco and 2 hours from Sacramento.
The Facilities consist of three beautiful yurts-- round tents,
windows and conical skylit roofs, which allow radiant natural
sunlight. On solid foundations, the yurts are surrounded by
redwood decks. Each is furnished with a special floor and a
modern wood stove. Service buildings are of standard frame
construction.
Meeting Yurt: 30 feet wide, with a smooth oak floor that is
specifically sprung for dance and movement. Stereo systems,
cushions and musical instruments. The adjacent hexagon, 10 feet
wide, serves as a costume and coat room.
Kitchen -Dining- Art Yurt: 30 feet wide, with a tiled floor and 3
tables for 8. Cook-top, ovens, sink, food preparation, equipment
and dishes etc. for 20. Alcove for art supplies with a deep sink.
Sleeping Yurt: 24 feet wide, with a carpeted floor and loft space
over the half the area. Communal sleeping space with a mixture of
beds and sleeping pads. The meeting yurt can also be used for
sleeping. In good weather, there are many good sleeping spots on
the deck and a tent site along the picnic grounds.
Shower-house: 4 washrooms, 3 showers, Gas Heater
Outhouse: 4 throughout the grounds
Redwood Hot Tub: 8 feet in diameter with bench. It is surrounded
by decking and seating. Nearby is a small fire pit
Lap pool: 9x16 feet. A propeller creates a current (strength
adjustable) against which one swims.
Picnic Ground: Long tables and a fire pit in a magical redwood
grove, also a good place for pitching tents.
